Princ Product Manager at AOL LLC

November 25 - Seattle - Full–Time


This position is responsible for developing and growing the global product strategy for products within the Mobile Messaging Product vertical (Mobile AIM, Mobile Mail, Mobile Social Networking, etc.). The person will identify new product requirements, define business justification and opportunity, lead and participate in product strategy and competitive positioning, assist with the development of product/feature content both on and off–line in both domestic and international markets. This position will interface extensively with program management, engineering, sales, marketing and external entities to manage the product life cycle and product positioning. The position’s primary functions will be as follows:

• Develop the global product roadmap with input from appropriate stakeholders including marketing, research, technical, and carrier business teams to deliver best–in–class consumer experience.

• Create the Business Concept documents which define the high level product requirements, analysis of target markets and the consumer experience based on consumer and carrier needs assessments

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to further AOL Mobile's position in the marketplace; assist in the effort to translate high–level product strategy into specific functional requirements and marketing plans

• Continuously stay abreast of wireless industry developments, interpret those developments to senior management and provide product strategies and recommendations that allow the company to maximize mobile revenue growth, product penetration and engagement.

• Understand industry developments, competitor plans and positioning, and trends in customer demand and adoption for wireless services and use in updating product roadmap

• Take lead responsibility for decisions with regards to feature/timeline tradeoffs, user interface decisions, and all other product related issues

• Maintain detailed understanding of other AOL product teams and product plans. Lead and coordinate interdepartmental activities and initiatives; communicate regularly with senior management in other departments.


This position will report directly to the Director of Product Management for Mobile Communications and Communities.


Candidate Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
• 5–7 years experience in consumer marketing and product management
• 3–5 years experience in wireless/telecommunications industry; thorough understanding of wireless telecommunications networks, services and markets
• International experience is ideal
• Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, particular in the area of product launch
• Strong understanding and experience with mobile Information Services (e.g., industry structure, competitive dynamics, technological underpinnings, key players, etc.)
• Pro–active problem solving skills and strong analytical ability
• Positive attitude and ability to operate within and foster a team environment. High competency in collaboration in a matrix environment is critical.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communications skills required
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• It is critical that this candidate exhibit extraordinary flexibility and ability to adapt to change as this is a constant in the competitive and fast–growing global mobile market
• Proven efficiency/ current working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
• Some travel required
