On January 30, the UW's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will host Springboard, an annual evening networking event. This event will bring together CEOs and Founders of Seattle's startups with entrepreneurial students from UW.
It seems to be a great way to get help for your startups for the summer months. Last year's event had 39 companies and 110 students attending.
Here are the details:
Who are the students? Undergraduates, MBAs, engineering students, law students, and graduate students who have taken entrepreneurship classes. Note that while many students have engineering or technical backgrounds and plan to continue working in those fields, you should be thinking about their entrepreneurial skills [what we're trying to say is that you shouldn't attend Springboard to find programmers]. Students attending Springboard are interested in working for start-ups and know their careers will be entrepreneurial.
When: Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from 5:30 to 8 pm. Companies can begin setting up at 5 pm. Since students start thinking about their summer internships and job possibilities right after the holidays, our timing is excellent!
Where: Balmer Undergraduate Commons on UW’s Seattle Campus: http://www.washington.edu/home/maps/northcentral.html?BLM.
How will this work? Companies sign up by registering on-line (see below for link). The cost to attend is $35. Part of the registration process includes entering information about your company, your need for talent, contact information, etc. We’ll compile that information into a packet for the students who attend. At SPRINGBOARD, each company will have a table where you can display information. You will also receive a compilation of student resumes for future reference. Register early to secure your spot!
Register here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/producer/6658. The registration deadline is Wednesday, January 9. Be sure to register early in order to be guaranteed a spot! We’re limiting Springboard to 45 early-stage companies. Your company only needs to register once – even if multiple people will be attending.
